Affiliate disclosure: how the site earns

Cold Plunge Tub earns a commission when you buy through some of our links. Here is how that works, and why it never decides what we recommend.

Published Updated

The short version

Cold Plunge Tub does not sell tubs, chillers or anything else. When you click a link from one of our pages to a shop and buy something, the shop may pay us a commission. You pay the same price either way.

That is the only way this site earns. No brand pays to be listed, to be ranked higher or to be reviewed.

Amazon

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Today every affiliate link on this site goes to Amazon. A button that says “on Amazon” takes you straight to the product’s page there and carries our tracking tag, which is how Amazon knows the sale came from us.

Three things follow from Amazon’s rules, and you will notice them on our pages:

  • No Amazon prices. Amazon does not allow sites like ours to print its prices, and they change by the hour. We show a price band and send you to Amazon for the current figure.
  • No Amazon star ratings or review counts. We don’t print them, and we don’t copy Amazon’s customer reviews.
  • Makers’ own prices are marked as such. Where a page gives a dollar figure, it is the maker’s price from the maker’s own site, with the date we read it. A shop may charge something different.

Brand programs

Some makers run their own affiliate programs. We have not joined any. If we do, the button will name the maker, not Amazon, and this page will list the program.

What a commission never buys

  • A place on a list. Picks are chosen from makers’ specs, our own sums and what owners report.
  • A better verdict. If a product has a flaw, the review says so, whoever pays us.
  • Silence. We leave products off our lists when the evidence is against them, and say why, even where a link to them would earn us money. We also name products we can’t earn from when they are the right answer.

Our reviews are built from research, not hands-on testing, and every figure says where it came from. The method is on how we review.

How to tell

Every page with an affiliate link says so near the top, before the first link. Affiliate links open in a new tab and are marked for search engines as sponsored.
